Cuba is currently expecting to historic visit of the Roman Catholic leader which they call the Pope. January 21-15, 1998 will be the first time ever that any Pope has ever visited Cuba. This Popes visit to Habana is also surprising in regards to the Cuban governments dislike for Christianity. The Pope will be speaking to president Fidel Castro concerning the well being of all the home churches in Cuba.
A large number of Protestant church leaders have confided in me by describing how the present system regrets releasing permission to assemble within the private homes for bible studies. Due to the mushrooming growth and demand of these activities many home churches have been quietly shut down. New permits for such activities have slowed down to a vaporous trickle. Hundreds of home churches which have not been denied or granted permission are forced to accommodate illegally due to the high demand and few locations of worship throughout the whole country. This leaving many Pastors wide open for judicial action.
With the anticipated Papal visit many evangelical are believing for more religious freedom to be granted. The Pope has made the request and many are praying that concessions will be honored. No new church building has been constructed since the government took power in 1959. The eyes of Cuba are watching the Popes premier historic visit to see if social change will accur also as with the former communist nations he has visited.
We here at CIRO don't believe in all that the Pope preaches and there has been Evangelical contentions for many hundreds of years with the Vatican, but we believe that if the Catholics receive any types of freedom the Protestant church should reap of those benefits also. God has His hand on Cuba and it should show surprising what He's going to do in this coming new year. Please continue to pray that new churches will be allowed to be constructed in Cuba, Chao !

We are a home for 12 beautiful handicapped children. Though the world calls them handicapped, we have found this often to be more of a tool our God has given them. These children have been able to touch hearts and administer to people in ways we never could have. Even when the LORD calls one home, they've been able to heal the hurting & speak to the unsaved in miraculous ways with the true love of our Lord Yeshua.
