To Have a Generous Heart

By Charles H.Spurgeon

Jesus told us again and again the manner in which we are to live toward our fellow men, and he placed great emphasis on the love that should shine throughout the Christian character. God's intent in endowing any person with more substance than that person needs is that he may have the pleasurable office, or the delightful privilege, of relieving want and woe.

Alas, how many there are who consider the store that God has put into their hands on purpose for the poor and needy to be only so much provisions for their excessive luxuries, luxuries that pamper them but yield them neither benefits nor pleasures. Others dream that wealth is given to them that they may keep it under lock and key, cankering and corroding, breeding covetousness and care.

Who dares roll a stone over the wells mouth when thirst is raging all around? Who dares keep the bread from women and children who for hunger are ready to gnaw their own arms'' Above all who dares allow sufferers to writhe in agony uncared for, and the sick to pine unnursed into their graves? This is no small sin; it is a crime to be answered for to the Judge when He shall come "to judge the quick and the dead"(I Peter 4.5 KJV).

Seek then to be true followers of your Lord by practical deeds of kindness. And if you have been backwards in your gifts to help either the temporal or the spiritual needs of others, begin from today with generous hearts, and God will bless you.

O divine Spirit help us to be more like Jesus.

(Charles H.Spurgeon (1834-1892) was a preacher and prolific writer. Shortly after coming to Christ in 18507, Mr.Spugeons began pastering in Baptist Churches. In 1854, though he was only 20 years old, many people came to hear him preach at his small church in New Park Street, in Southwark, London, England. His congregation eventually grew so large that a sanctuary holding 6,000 people was built. In I865 Mr.Spurgeons started a monthly magazine. ÒThe Sword and the Trowel'', he also published numerous books, many of which remain in print. This

We are a home for 12 beautiful handicapped children. Though the world calls them handicapped, we have found this often to be more of a tool our God has given them. These children have been able to touch hearts and administer to people in ways we never could have. Even when the LORD calls one home, they've been able to heal the hurting & speak to the unsaved in miraculous ways with the true love of our Lord Yeshua.

We are supported by the sales of GREAT CHRISTIAN SOFTWARE available at prices a missionary could afford. Please stop by.
